My close co-worker has survived breast cancer and I give her a lot of props for the tough times she has faced in fighting this disease. She is barely 50 and it makes my day that she was able to fight this for her brand new grandson. She is a trooper and continues to support the fight through various walks and meetings that she attends.

What i'm doing is i'm supporting the cause - i try to donate money to the national breast cancer programs when I can, this year I cannot since i've lost my job and am now a college student and expecting. but I still support the cause by informing those that are not aware about cancer, spreading the word everywhere (facebook/twitter etc), i will support and help fight to find the cure.

"Clarisonic Limited Edition Giveaway". My name is Charlene, and this is my first time on your website. I found it by accident, afer Googling about Revlon foundation reviews. "Breast Cancer" is a very sensitive subject, I lost my mother to breast cancer when I was 17 years old, now I'm 32, and to sum it up in short words, there is not 1 day that goes by that I do not think about her, or cancer. To prevent breast cancer to happening to me, I try not to eat like my mom did (bad), and I am into holistic antioxidants like "Astaxanthin". My mom used to have a device simialar to the Clarisonic back in the 90's, and always exfoliated her skin, and taught me to do the same. I am glad to have found your website, and love to read up on beauty advice. Thanks, Charlene

I am one of the few people that have not directly been affected by breast cancer, but knowing a lot of people that have I do what I can to support the cause and make people aware of breast cancer. Its something that every single woman needs to be aware of, whether they have a history of breast cancer in their family or not. I'm glad you've done this post as a reminder and of course its great that Clarisonic is recognizing breast cancer awareness as well!

Breast cancer has hit home twice recently.A dear family friend passed away as a result of breast cancer in August and a family member is fighting this disease right now.
The diseases that strike women seem so much sadder since women are everything to their families, communities etc.One of the things that I have done for myself health wise is that I've stopped using deodorants with aluminum and I do monthly exams.I also eat a lot of veggies and other foods that have antioxidants.

hi there! I had no idea that women as young as 20 and up to 39 should be getting a clinical breast exam every 3 yrs! (pg 17) http://www.cancer.org/acs/groups/content/@epidemiologysurveilance/documents/document/acspc-030975.pdf

a lot more facts here.

The threat of breast cancer was the only way I could get the women in my family to switch to all natural deodorant. They put up a fight, but I eventually got my way. :-)
I already have a Clarisonic, but I know a few ladies who could use one. There's nothing like healthy skin.

When I was younger, doctors found something in my mom's breast and had to be operated. The thought of it being breast cancer scared me a lot. Fortunately it was not Breast Cancer but since then she is always being checked. After that happened I make sure she schedules her visits and when I am in NYC I go with her to her appointments. I make sure I examine myself every night before bed and I buy products are Breast Cancer endorsed. My goal for next year is to walk for Breast Cancer.

I agree we need to all be aware of breast cancer and how it affects all of us. I lost one of my aunts to breast cancer. After I was born, she and my grandmother took care of me because my mother was very ill in the hospital. I have and always will keep her close in my heart.

Hey Milly! I'm an advocate for breast cancer awareness because until this past January when my grandmother passed away due to her 15 year battle I thought breast cancer would never affect me personally. My grandmother was first diagnosed with breast cancer in 1996 and underwent a mastectomy on both breasts. thankfully the surgery was a success and the cancer went into remission. Unfortunately last august the cancer returned and because of her age (86 years young) it would be too much for her body to undergo another heavy duty surgery. Even if I don't win this contest i appreciate the opportunity to share my story and realization that every woman is touched by this disease in some form or fashion.

Hi Milly! As I've gotten older I am realizing more and more the importance of good health. Its not just about looking good, but feeling good as well. My grandmother had to have a mastectomy late in life and she is still going strong. She has also suffered with many other health issues in her life such as diabetes, arthritis and glaucoma and it really is starting to sink in that I must take care of myself now, so that I won't have to deal with these health issues later. I love my grandmother for how strong and resilient she is and hope that I can be a light in this world as she has been.

A very close family member of mine was diagnosed with breast cancer a few months ago. She had to have a mastectomy of one breast and is dealing with the initial shock and loss of her womanly features - as it all happened so quickly. She is a woman that loves to be beautiful and loves every moment of being a ultra feminine lady, so this was a big blow to her. Thankfully, there was no cancer left behind and her other breast is just fine.
This whole ordeal has affected me so much. I am now very aware of how precious life is and to really love and enjoy those around you as much as you can.
Thanks to Clarisonic for participating in this great cause to fight the insidious disease that is breast cancer.

I think it's vital for women for not only know what their potential risks for breast cancer are, but also to remember that it's not always dictated by things like family history, etc. Every woman is at risk and should be educated and proactive with their health. As for myself, I am working on maintaining a healthy lifestyle to reduce my risk, including eating lots of fruits, veggies, and making sure I consume enough vitamins and antioxidants. My sincerest thoughts and prayers go out to everyone who has been affected by cancer.

I dont have a breast cancer story, but i have a cancer story. My aunt died of cancer almost 3 yrs ago. For a long time she suffered in silence. She didnt let anyone know of her pain until the pain was too much and it was too late. She didnt have a chance because she didnt get regular screenings and her cancer was terminal at that point. I believe cancer is man made and we need to be as organic and healthy as possible. Your body is your temple. Its a machine that needs to be in tip top shape in order to perform its best. Proper diet n exercise and regular check ups will help. In closing u know your body best. Dont ignore something. All cancers dont have to be terminal.

Hi Milly! Long-time reader, first time commenter. I found an interesting historical fact about breast cancer:

"The world's oldest documented case of cancer hails from ancient Egypt, in 1500 B.C. The details were recorded on a papyrus, documenting 8 cases of tumors occurring on the breast. It was treated by cauterization, a method to destroy tissue with a hot instrument called 'the fire drill.' "

I truly enjoy your blog. Keep up the great work!

It basically said that I have been touched by Breast Cancer via a very close family member.
