Zoe Saldana SAG Awards 2012 Makeup and Beauty

Did you see Zoe Saldana at the SAG 2012 awards last night? Wasn't she a vision? We got the deets from her makeup artist and friend to the blog Vera Steinberg on what she used on Zoe to create her flawless look. Vera said she was inspired by Zoe's dress and she wanted to do a smokey eye with soft browns rather than blacks to make it more elegant. Here are the full deets:

I started with Josie Maran Argan Primer Mist all over the face.
After that, I used Giorgio Armani 10 Fluid Sheer on Zoe's face.
Then on her cheeks I used Tarte True Love Cheek Stain and Jouer Peach Bouquet Blush over it.
On Zoe's lids, I applied Benefit Busy Signal Cream Shadow with my fingers mixed with Jemma Kidd Stardust Creme Shadow.
To create a glossy look on the lids, I applied Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream Shadow.
I applied individual lashes, and then used Elizabeth Arden Black Mascara. Then I created a very fine line using Bobbi Brown Gel Eye Liner.
I then tightlined with Chanel Eyeliner in black.
We finished the look off with a pink natural gloss from MAC.

Well Vera, Zoe looked beautiful as usual. Great job.

Zoe's hair stylist Mara Roszak says that Zoe’s dress was so inspiring. I wanted to create a "not too perfect" up-do by adding texture and movement to the hair, while keeping it modern and fresh.”

Step-by-Step Styling

1. Apply Wella Professionals Extra Volume Mousse to wet hair and rough dry

2. Then, using a 3/4" barrel curling iron, add waves to the hair by rotating the direction of the curl

3. Once the whole head was waved, spray Wella Professionals Ocean Spritz on the hair to break up the wave and add texture

4. Loosely pull the hair back into a low pony and secured it with an elastic

5. Then split the pony into two sections and braid them both, then wrap the braids into a bun and secure with bobby pins

6. Once the hair is up, apply a dab of Wella Professionals Bold Move styling paste to fingertips and define a few pieces around the face

7. Spray all over with Wella Professionals Stay Firm finishing spray

I think Zoe looked beautiful for the Sag Awards. Can't wait to see her makeup and hair for the Oscars. you know we'll have it here.

Therapy Thursday: So You Want to Blog

So I get a lot of questions from you girls about blogging etc, so today I'm going to try to answer them.
FYI: My blog was having big problems this morning and published this three times before I was done editing it.

1) How did you start blogging?
I started blogging almost five years ago. July 8 will be my 5 year anniversary and also my birthday. I plan to have a nice bash for that so if you can go, let me know. We'll have great gift bags, drinks, hair done, nails, and girl talk, at maybe a spa in Manhattan. I'm already working on it. I started blogging for a few reasons 1) I was addicted to blogs, specifically shake your beauty and afrobella, and would crave for them every day 2) I loved blogs with personal stories 3) I loved writing 4) I noticed there weren't too many Latina blogs. 5) Mr. Milly and I had a huge fight on my bday five years ago, and I needed something to keep my mind busy, so BeautyLogic was born.

2) How do I interview fun people if I don't live in NYC?
You can interview people no matter where you live. Most of my interviews have been done by phone or email. My first big interviews were Mally Roncal and June Ambrose. I contacted Mally through her PR, and funny enough, I contacted June through Myspace and she got right back to me. Don't ever be afraid to email or ask someone to cover them. Remember that the worst thing they can say is NO, which I've heard many times.

3) How do I build traffic?
A lot of ways. Leave comments on big blogs. That's important. 2) Don't be like me, create a facebook immediately after starting your blog. Believe it or not getting traffic wasn't the most important thing to me so I never thought to create a page, but then everyone kept asking me about my facebook, so I finally created one the end of last year. The power of Facebook is amazing. 3) Create a twitter right away. Twitter is so important 4) Befriend other bloggers. Instead of looking as bloggers as competition, look at them as your allies and make friends with as many of them as possible and then join sharing sites like Triberr so you can share their content and they can share yours. 5) Photography-up until last year, my camera sucked, what a mistake. If you're going to blog, get a good camera, good camera's don't have to be expensive and learn how to use it. 6) Try to blog everyday. (I need to take my own advice.)

4) What happens if my traffic isn't what I want it to be? Keep working on it. Use those tips above, and keep doing it. You will get there eventually. It takes time. But don't get discouraged!

5) But Milly, there are too many blogs, how can I make mine stand out?
Stop worrying about other people. We discussed that before here. Put your own personal spin on your blog. Write with your personality in every post. Don't be boring. I always try to throw in either a funny line, or some random fact about myself in each post because I feel like people may want to know more about the writer. The master of this is makeupandbeautyblog. I study her blog everyday. I also write my blog as if I'm talking to you. I can use big words, but because of my news background, I was taught to make my writing conversational, and that's how I do it. S

6)What happens if I don't get comments?
When I first started blogging and had like 50 hits a day, I used to get a lot of comments. Now my blog traffic is much more than that, and comments are very limited, but I do get a lot of emails from you girls (which I find really interesting). I once had a woman contact me who was going through a divorce and she had no one to talk to. Ask your readers a question at the end of your post. But don't go crazy if you don't get comments. I know a lot of huge blogs that don't get too many comments.

7) Worst Mistake you ever made blogging?
Waiting way too long to start a facebook. What a dumb move. Don't make the same mistake.

8) What blogging platform do you rec?
Everyone and their mama uses Wordpress. But I'm a creature of habit and have been on blogger since I started. I don't imagine moving anytime soon. Setting up a blogger account is pretty easy.

9) What has blogging done for your life?
Blogging has given me so many opportunities that I would never have had. Also, I love talking beauty, giving life advice, and talking to random people so my blog is almost like a therapy for me. If you have a passion for something, blog about it. You never know who is reading. And if ever you do become a big blogger, if you get an email from someone who is seeking blog advice, don't dismiss it. Help them. Remember by helping others you are helping yourself.

Go bold with lips.... I love the look of rich red or berry stained lips. Be sure to use a lipliner. Rich color looks best on perfectly outlined lips. Suggested products: Kimara Ahnert lipstick in Ava or Bombshell

Shimmer on the eyes.....nows the time to add a shimmer or pearlized shadow in powder or creme to the brow bone, inner corner of eyes, and even under eyes on top of your eye liner. Suggested products: Shimmer Shadow from Nars in Bombshell

Lashes....add a few individual lashes to the outer corner of eyes. If you can't master the individuals, opt for a strip lash.

Lancome Rose Romance Palette Spring 2012 Review & Swatches

For Spring 2012 Lancome has released their Rose Romance palette. This palette is a very pretty mix of peach, pinks and even a plum. It contains a highlighter, all over lid palette, base color, contour color, and a liner. I don't wear too much pink around my eyes, just because I'm all about browns, and coppers, and purples, but when I applied these shadows, and saw how much brighter my face looked, it really made me want to explore pinks more especially for the spring.

Lancome says these shadows will last eight hours and I agree. I wore them for about seven hours and they still looked fresh Here are swatches of the palette:

Left to right: All over color, lid color, crease color, highlight, contour/liner

I found all of the shades to have shimmer. The all over base is a champagne. The lid color is a very pretty coral peach ( so springy). The crease color is a medium pink, the highlight color is a a champagne with pink and the contour color is a def more on the plum brown side (although Lancome describes it as a burgundy). The shadows apply smoothly with very good pigmentation. That contour/liner is super pigmented when wet too. Bottom line this will be one of my go to palettes for the spring. As I said before I was a little hesitant to try it because I stay away from pinks, but this one actually worked really well with my warm skin tone. Here's a quick look I did using Lancome's Day Time instructions with the Rose Romance palette. Lancome also gives you instructions on how to create a night time look but since I was just going on a play date, I thought the day time look would be more appropriate.

Laura Mercier Oh La La Nail Lacquer Spring 2012

The release of Laura Mercier's new spring nail lacquer collection is super exciting because she hasn't released a collection in a long time. It contains 5 colors, Sizzle, Cabana, Oh La La, Flamingo, Luscious. We were sent Oh La La to review and swatch

Oh LaLa is a very work friendly mid pink cream finished polish. It applied evenly, no streaks. I like it. This is two coats.

What are your fave colors for your nails for the spring? I'd love to know.

Just like lip glosses, you can never have enough nail polishes.

Tarte Glisten Maracuja Divine Shine Lip gloss

For the spring Tarte has released their Tarte Maracuja Divine Shine Lip gloss collection. My review today is for Glisten but there are 10 lip glosses in total. As I've said before I first got really into Tarte when I was pregnant and searching for makeup that was still high quality but didn't contain certain chemicals. I found that with Tarte and although I'm no longer pregnant, they have remained one of my fave brands. The applicator is sort of like a push pen. You have to push down to really get the product out.

Glisten is a pretty sheer peachy nude color that would suit many skin tones. The consistency is pretty thick but not sticky ( I really dislike sticky glosses, I spend the day breaking up the fight against my lips and hair.) I love all of the nourishing ingredients this product contains like the maracuja oil, sunfower seed oil and vitamin E. The scent and taste of this is pure mint. It's hard not to lick your lips when you have this on because it taste so yummy.

The product lasted around three hours before reapplication was necessary. All in all I'm pretty sold on Glisten.

Butter Spring/Summer 2012 Collection Review and Swatches

It snowed this weekend. I wasn't too thrilled about that. I'm so not a snow lover. In fact, I really just dislike the cold in general. Spring weather makes me so happy, and spring nail polish makes me even happier. Butter's new spring collection is making me super happy. The collection contains all types of colors from cantaloupe, pistachio, turquoise, and a tropical hot pink. Anyway, Butter sent over two of the shades. Click Below to see swatches and see my review:

Butter Disco Biscuit-A very pretty tropical hot pink with tiny green glitter particles. I really like this, and don't own a polish like it. Although this applied really well, I can honestly say that this needed three coats to look finished. Here's three coats:

Butter Trout Pout- An opaque shade of cantaloupe. Quite possibly my fave color for the spring. So beautiful on tan skin. You can get away with one coat with this, as it's a very opaque color, but I did two.

I like these shades. I found that they applied without streaks, although with Disco Biscuit, I could have stayed with two coats, but three just gave it the finished look that I loved. Here's two interesting facts. Disco Biscuit is a 90's term for ecstasy tablet and Trout Pout is cruel slang for women who have overdone the collagen in their lips, leaving them with a rather fishy face.

All in all, interesting names, really pretty polishes.

Mychelle Dermaceuticals Detox Cranberry Mud Mask

How was your weekend loves? Snow came and went in NYC. Sunday I took it easy, and had a great day of pampering ME. I gave myself a facial, pedicure, mani, and did my hair. I hope you girls make time for yourselves. It's so important. Anyway, one of my fave masks to detoxify my face from a stressful week is Mychelle Dermacueticals Detox Cranberry Mud Mask. This mask contains detoxifying ingredients like Kaolin and Bentonite clay, which work to soak up all the crap off of my face. Then they throw in something called SC@ Totarol from the Totara tree in New Zealand. They say this has been proven to work against acne. It also contains Cranberry because of it's high antioxidant properties. The scent is a slight lavender mint scent. When I apply this thick bluish gray mask to my face, I feel a slight cooling sensation.

They advise leaving this mask on for 10 minutes, but I actually like to leave it on for twenty. When I wash this off, my pores look a lot smaller, my skin feels so smooth and silky but not dry at all, and I've noticed that after using this, a zit that was coming out, by the next morning was gone. I love that this mask is vegetarian friendly. All in all, I give this an A+

Rembrandt Deeply White 2 Hour Whitening Kit Review

Rembrandt recently sent over their Deeply White 2 Hour Whitening Kit for me to review. I ran out of my go-to whitener about a month ago and just haven't gotten around to ordering it. But when I recently saw the commercial I did with CVS at the Peoples Choice Awards, I was kind of mortified. We had filmed that little commercial all day and because I was tired, while we were filming, I drank about six cups of coffee.When I saw the commercial I noticed my teeth weren't as gleaming white as I like them. ( I like them to be the color of chiclets, lol ) Anyway, when I came back I decided to give the Rembrandt Deeply White Two Hour Whitening Kit a try. The product contains 8 little tubes (that contain the whitening agent) and two mouth trays. You are supposed to place the mouth trays in hot (but not boiling water) and then place them on your teeth to shape them for about 30 seconds. I did it for a minute.

After you shape both mouthrays, you apply 1 tube of whitening agent to top mouth tray and 1 tube to botom mouthtray and then you wear them for 20 minutes. You then take a 10 minute break, and then repeat the process three more times. Basically you're really wearing the mouth trays for an hour and twenty minutes with four ten minute breaks. So here's what I didn't like: Those 10 minute breaks. I would prefer to have just worn this for an hour and twenty minutes straight. Those breaks made it impossible for me to relax while wearing. I didn't experience any tooth/gum sensitivity while using this (but remember I've been whitening my teeth since I was 16, so I think by now I could throw acid on my gums and I wouldn't feel it, lol). This product promises up to three shades lighter. I don't think it whitened three shades, but I did notice a difference. Here's the before.

Here's the After-I wouldn't say three shades, I think about one.

Excuse my crusty lips in these pics. It was early, I was home, don't judge me. Here's another great part to this tooth whitener: Where Crest's two hour whitestrips will run you $49.00 bucks. I believe Rembrandts is only $25.00. That's pretty great.

Therapy Thursdays: Sometimes the Best Things in Life Are the Things You Don't Plan.

Exactly seven years ago today, I woke up extremely annoyed. That night I was supposed to be going on a blind date. Truthfully, I was tired of getting set up on dates. Lately, everyone and their mama was trying to set me up and it was becoming super annoying and so uncomfortable. For 2005, one of my new years resolution was never to go on a blind date again. But my friend kept insisting that I meet this guy. Apparently he was wickedly smart, funny and resembled The Rock. I'd heard all of that before (well except the Rock part) and wasn't too interested. But just to make my friend happy, I decided to go. That night I was meeting the guy in the city. An hour before the date was to begin, my roommate walked into the apartment. I was having a lazy day, still in my pajamas watching reruns of The Golden Girls. She asked me, "Aren't you supposed to be getting ready for your date?" I responded, "Girl, I"m pretty sure this will be nothing" She said, "Stop thinking like that, this may be the best date ever. Get ready!" I shrugged my shoulders and continued to watch my fave girls: Rose, Dorothy, Blanche and Sophia. About 15 minutes later, I decided maybe I should get ready. So I threw on an old shirt and jeans, put my hair in a bun, and was about to leave but for some reason something told me to head back, change and actually try to look decent. So I did.

Getting Married

When I arrived at our meeting spot (30 minutes late) I didn't see this mystery man. (FYI, Mr Milly had wanted to pick me up at home, but since I didn't know him, I asked him to meet me at a public location.) But then I turned around, and wooh!!! I was greeted by the most beautiful man I'd ever seen. My friend wasn't lying when he told me he resembled The Rock, but he was so much better. Same body too. Anyway, he smiled at me, and I almost melted. To make a long story short, we had the best date ever. (Although Mr. Milly often tells me he didn't even know I liked him because I played it super cool.) After that amazing first date, I knew I could fall in love with him. We had way too much in common. He was super funny, and so brilliant, and come on, he looked like The Rock (my crush for years.). But I didn't want to fall in love. That wasn't in my plan for 2005. 2005 was the year where I focused on figuring out my path. So I decided to never call him again or take his calls. So he called me..and called me.....and called me, but I never picked up the phone. Believe me, It was super hard, but when I resolve to do something, I do it. Finally about a month later (he was persistent) he got me on the phone, and we ended up speaking for hours. At the end of our conversation, he asked if he could see me again. I told him that I would prefer that we didn't. It wasn't in my plans to see anyone for 2005. He told me. "Sometimes the best things in life, are the things you don't plan." Seven years later today, married, and more in love than ever, I'd have to agree.

In life we all make plans for ourselves, whether it's in our career, in our personal lives, things that we say we will never do, or we will do, but sometimes the unexpected can happen. Maybe you'll meet someone that's totally not your type. Maybe a new opportunity will come your way that you're not too sure about. Don't automatically dismiss it or them, because in the end, you may lose out on the best thing for you.

Essie Navigate Her Spring 2012 Collection Review and Swatches

Hey loves, Essie's Navigate Her Spring 2012 collection has me way too excited for a few reasons. First of all, the colors are gorgeous. And also, the collection pays tribute to ambitious women of action. I love that! Essie says "not content to play it safe and hedge her bets during the wintry economic climate, the change in weather perfectly suits her sunnier outlook. In both Fashion and finance, she's ready willing, and able to strike out and try something fresh and new." We are all about not playing it safe on this site and making our dreams come true because we know they WILL come true. Anyway, click below to see swatches, and a review.

Essie To Buy Or Not To Buy- a beautiful lilac with shimmer.This one def needs two coats. One coat isn't enough. It applies evenly though.

Essie Tour De Finance-this is one of my faves. Fuchsia seems to be big this year. a gorgeous fuschia with slight shimmer. so pretty. Once coat is ok with this one. but this pic has two.

Essie Navigate Her-A pale green creme Probably my least fave just because this color always looks weird on me. You def need two coats with this one. One coat went on streaky.

Essie Orange It's Obvious-Hello it's an orange! You girls know how I love orange. This is super pretty orange creme. No shimmer on this one.

Essie Ole Caliente-This is a reddish coral. Very pretty. Probably my second fave.

Essie A Crewed Interest-This is a pretty peach. However, I needed three coats for this to be even.

All in all, I like this collection a lot. The colors are gorgeous, and suitable for all occasions, and yea two may have applied a little streaky but with another coat, that was fixed right up.

Olivella Daily Facial Cleansing Tissues

When I went to LA, there were about three nights where I was so tired that I literally slept with a full face of makeup on. (I'm paying for it now with a humongous zit on both my nose and cheek.) That probably would never happen in NYC because I am super religious about keeping wipes next to my bed so that if I'm too exhausted to wash my makeup off, I can just grab a wipe and clean my face with minimal effort. Some wipes that I'm currently loving are Olivella Daily Facial Cleansing Tissues. They aren't perfect, but they do get the job done. Click below to read my review:

First of all, these wipes contain 100% Olive oil, they are paraben free, and with one side of a wipe (yes, one side) I can pretty much take all of my makeup off. I'm usually iffy about using anything with Olive oil on my sensitive skin but while using this, I didn't experience a breakout. The wipes are pretty thick and smell amazing (kind of like olive oil with a hint of a lavendar essential oil.) I like that after using this, my skin feels so hydrated and soft, and, and my makeup is gone . It's also one of the few wipes that can totally remove my urban decay 24/7 eyeliner with just a swipe (could be because of the olive oil). My qualm with this is although it doesn't contain parabens, it contains fragrance. If it didn't contain fragrance, these would probably be my fave drugstore wipes. I got these for $7.95 for 30 at a local drugstore. Vitacost has them for $5.95 right now though.

Revlon Photoready Color Correcting Primer Review

I"m a huge fan of primers. So when I recently went to the drugstore and saw Revlon's display for their new new Revlon Photoready Color Correcting Primer, and their new Photoready airbrush makeup (which I picked up as well and will review later), for only $13.00 bucks well I had to get my hands on both of them. The primer I use a lot is Smashbox Color Correcting primer because I suffer from slight hyperpigmentation on my cheeks. When compared to Smashbox, the consistency of the Revlon's is more of a creamier texure.

The Smashbox one seems a bit lighter. When I applied Revlon's Color Corrective Primer, I noticed that my skin doesn't have a silicone feeling to it like the Smashbox. It feels more like I applied a lotion to my face and it also left a sort of matte finish to my skin. Whereas the Smashbox is a peach color, this is more of a light pink color. I also liked that this doesn't have any sparkles or shimmer on it like some primers do. My makeup stayed flawless throughout the day with this on. Also, I felt like this helped control the oil in my tzone area because it took a pretty long time for the oil to show and that usually happens pretty quickly. And yes, I did notice that my hyperpigmenation didn't show up as much because of the color correcting properties of this. I noticed I had to use way less concealer. So do I like this, Heck yea. And for $13.00 and the huge amount of product you get, this is pretty sweet.

CHINA GLAZE ELECTROPOP COLLECTION

Hey guys, we're starting to review Spring Collections and we're starting with the China Glaze Electropop Collection Spring 2012. Although while reviewing this, I had five layers of pajamas on in my house because there was no heat and it was like 2 degrees outside and -15 degrees inside. I can't wait for the spring! But anyway let's talk beauty: China Glaze says the collection was inspired by all things girly edgy and fun. Dance Baby-I loved the pretty cotton candy pink color, but applying this was a pain in the neck. It was really watery, and my nails looked a mess the first time. I had to reapply and the second time it was better, but still kind of messy.

Fuchsia Fanatic-You can never go wrong with a fuchsia. This one actually applied really well. You can get away with one coat with this one . This is two coats.

China Glaze Electric Beat-Very pretty Periwinkle blue-again, this one applied smoothly. Once coat is good with this one. Not streaky. This is two coats.

China Glaze Gothic Lolita- Probably my fave color in the whole collection. (You girls know I love a good purple!) And this one is a gorgous purple with tiny flecks of silver visible in the light. So Pretty. Applied like a DREAM. This is two coats.

China Glaze Techno-Very pretty glitter confetti polish, you can wear alone or on top of another polish. This applied easily, no problems. This is two coats.

All in all the polishes I got from the China Glaze Electropop collection were really good, (well except for the Dance Baby, although I did love the color, it was kind of a pain in the butt to apply). Other than that color, I'm loving all the others.

Paula Patton Golden Globes Makeup and Beauty

Yesterday when Mr. Milly and I watched the Golden Globes, I think I saw him start to drool like a hungry puppy when Paula Patton walked on the red carpet. Sheesh, she looked so beautiful, I think I was drooling too. lol. Anyway, click below for her makeup and beauty breakdown done by Covergirl artist Fiona Stiles. Inspiration/Dress: Paula was wearing a strapless Monique Lhuillier gown, a beautiful sunny yellow. We wanted to keep the look light and pretty, focusing on lashes and cheeks, playing up the happy element of the color.

· Face: After prepping the skin, I used a flat synthetic foundation brush to swipe on COVERGIRL Queen Collection Natural Hue Liquid Makeup in Rich Sand <http://www.covergirl.com/queencollection-naturalhueliquidmakeup>, applying it to the bridge of the nose, the cheeks, the forehand and the chin. Then I used the brush to blend the color out towards the jaw and hairline, going over the base with a criss-cross motion to ensure that it was well blended and there were no lines. I used a little COVERGIRL Queen Collection Natural Hue Concealer in Light <http://www.covergirl.com/queencollection-naturalhueconcealer> to cover any darkness under the eye or redness along the side of the nose, feathering it out so it blended perfectly with the foundation. Before I powdered with COVERGIRL Queen Collection Natural Hue Pressed Powder in Light Bronze <http://www.covergirl.com/queencollection-naturalhuepressedpowder>, I used a dual fiber brush to apply a bit of COVERIGRL + Olay Simply Ageless Sculpting Blush in Lush Berry<http://www.covergirl.com/simplyageless-sculptingblush> onto the apples of the cheeks and then after I powdered, I used a touch of COVERGIRL Cheekers Blush in Classic Pink <http://www.covergirl.com/cheekersblush> to brighten the face a bit more.

· Application Tip: I like to combine cream and powder blush – just make sure you apply "like to like," so use the cream blush before you powder and the powder blush after the makeup is set.

· Eyebrows: Next I focused on the brows. I gave them a nice full look by adding a little to the shape with COVERGIRL Brow & Eyemakers Pencil in Midnight Brown <http://www.covergirl.com/brow&eyemakerspencil>. The key to making it not look too heavy is to run a clean spooly through the brows after you fill in with pencil. This softens the lines and blends the color in, making it undetectable. Set the brows with a clear gel, brushing the hairs into the desired shape.

· Eyes: For the eyes, I started by sweeping COVERGIRL Queen Collection Natural Hue Bronzer in Light Bronze <http://www.covergirl.com/queencollection-naturalhuebronzer> over the lid, giving the eye a wash of warmth and a little depth, while still looking like her skin. Then I took COVERGIRL Queen Collection Eyeliner in Black Onyx <http://www.covergirl.com/queencollection-eyeliner> and drew a black line all along the upper lash line, pushing it into the lashes. Taking a small synthetic brush, I smudged the line, softening the edge, making it less severe. I used a little black liner on the bottom as well, pushing it deep into the lashes so that when I applied NEW COVERGIRL LashBlast 24HR Mascara, the illusion was thicker, darker lashes.

· Lips: A soft pale, peachy lip achieved using COVERGIRL Queen Collection Lip Gloss in Starlet Sand <http://www.covergirl.com/queencollection-lipgloss>, made Paula look radiant without distracting too much from the eyes, and the wash of warm pink on the cheeks gave her a fresh, healthy flush.

· Focus: The eyes--soft liner and strong lashes--were the focus of the look, so the lips and cheeks were just meant to compliment them.

· What’s in the clutch?: I gave Paula her lip gloss, a few cotton buds, and some blotting papers for her to take with her on the red carpet. I wish I could be there to touch up my clients when they get to the red carpet, but once I leave them they are on their own. The challenge is fitting all of those touch up supplies in those teeny tiny clutches!

Sofia Vergara by Kayleen Adams

· Inspiration/Dress: This look is all about the lips. We chose a bright plum lip and kept the eyes soft with bronze shadow and multiple coats of mascara. The dress is a gorgeous Vera Wang in a shade of teal and the hair (@atkinjen) is very sleek and youthful so we wanted the makeup to stand out and look youthful as well.

· Face: I started by applying COVERGIRL TRUconceal Concealer #4 <http://www.covergirl.com/truconcealconcealer> under the eyes and around the nose. I then applied COVERGIRL NatureLuxe Silk Foundation in Nutmeg <http://www.covergirl.com/natureluxesilkfoundation> with a sponge and set that with COVERGIRL Clean Pressed Powder in Soft Honey. <http://www.covergirl.com/cleanpressedpowder-normalskin> I chose a plum toned blush (COVERGIRL Cheekers Blush in Plumberry Glow <http://www.covergirl.com/cheekersblush>) and applied it along the cheekbones and apples of the cheeks.

· Eyes: I applied COVERGIRL Eye Enhancers 3-kit Shadow in Golden Sunset<http://www.covergirl.com/eye-enhancers-3kitshadows> all over the lid and into the crease and then applied three coats of NEW COVERGIRL LashBlast 24HR Mascara to the top lashes and one coat on the bottom.

· Lips: I applied COVERGIRL LipPerfection Lipcolor in Everlasting <http://www.covergirl.com/lipperfectionlipcolor> first and then applied COVERGIRL LipPerfection Lipliner in Beloved <http://www.covergirl.com/lipperfectionlipliner>.

· Application Tip: This keeps the lipstick from bleeding, but makes it easier to apply the line with the moisture of the lipstick.

· What’s in the clutch?: When she was ready to hit the red carpet, I sent Sofia on her way with powder, lip pencil and lipstick for reapplication.

Beautylogic Best Vitamin C Product 2011-Obagi Professional Vitamin C

Hey loves, sorry I didn't post the last few days. The holidays always wear me out. Do you get exhausted too during the holidays. By the way, I saw the movie The Iron Lady on Monday with hubby. It stars Meryl Streep and she plays Margaret Thatcher. It was so good!!! Meryl Streep was just unbelievable in that role. It's a story of a woman who rose to power when it was very uncommon for women to be in power and also it shows such a beautiful love story between Ms. Thatcher and her husband. Totally unexpected. Both Mr. Milly and I loved it, and when we both love a movie, well that says a lot.

Anyway let's talk beauty, I'm starting my Best of 2011 today and I will start with last years favorite Vitamin C product which is Obagi Vitamin C Serum 20%. Although I test many skin care products because I'm a blogger, this one made such a HUGE difference on my face. It worked so well that I bought two bottles last year .(I wouldn't have needed three if I was just using it, but Mr. Milly loves it a lot, and uses it too.) This product leaves my skin and now Mr. Milly's skin glowing. It's really insane the difference in my skin (and Mr. Milly's)when using this, and when we don't use it. Also, I find when it comes to my hyperpigmentation marks (which i tend to get often because of my tan skin) this is so effective. The fact that it contains 20% of a STABLE vitamin C is great because it's super powerful. The reason I wrote "stable" in bold print, is because many companies will put an unstable form of Vitamin C in their products and then say their products contain Vitamin C but that Vitamin C won't do anything for you, so make sure you get a stable form of Vitamin C if you get one. L'Ascorbic Acid is one form of stable vitamin C. Anyway, Vitamin C is a powerful antioxidant, and also, it is essential for building collagen (which is what your skin is made of). 20% may be a little strong for you if you're just getting into Vitamin C so Obagi makes lower strength of Vitamin C like 10% so you may want to try that before you try this. All in all, this Vitamin C gets an A+ and gets Beautylogic's Best Vitamin C product of the year.

Zoya True Collection Review and Swatches

Ah, for the spring Zoya has released two collections, and their True Collection has one of my fave colors of all time. The True collection was inspired by runway looks from top designers. It contains six muted and very unexpected colors. Click below to see swatches, a review and remember click on the pics to enlarge.

Zoya Chlo-Full Coverage Vanilla Shimmer Metallic (2 coats). Applied pretty smoothly, no streaks.

Zoya Farah-This is a full coverage latte Beige Cream, no metallic on this one. Applied smoothly, no streaks -2 coats.

Zoya Bevin (I love that name Bevin) This is a full coverage jade cream (one of my fave colors) Two coats in this one. Applied smoothly.

Zoya Skylar-My absolute Fave color. Full coverage silver slated blue metallic (silver shimmer)

Zoya Tru-Full coverge gilded purple orchid , lots of red and gold shimmer-2 coats, applied smoothly.

Zoya Lotus-A full coverage purple metallic (pink shimmer)-Beautiful -2 Coats.

I had no problems with thse polishes applying. They all applied pretty smoothly and dried super quick. The colors are beyond beautiful, and it was super hard to pick my fave, but in the end Zoya Skylar won just because I really don't own anything like it, but all of these were stunning.

For the spring, these glitter effects are super fun, I can't wait to pair them with Zoya's other spring collection, Zoya True. These applied super smoothly and dried really fast.

Happy New Year!!

How was your New years loves? Did you guys do anything fun? Mr. Milly and I stayed in, watched the ball drop, and shared a romantic kiss at 12;00am, but then we both fell right to sleep. (We're getting old, lol). Back in the day we would party around NYC like rockstars (those were fun times). Anyway, 2011 was an amazing year, but I have a feeling that 2012 will be even better for all of us. 12 is a very lucky number. Let's make sure that all our dreams become reality this year. We can make it happen!

Nucelle Papaya Skin Exfoliator Review

I used to have terrible blackheads on my nose. I swear my whole nose was covered in them. When I would get facials, many of the estheticians, would tell me they could not continue removing the blackheads on my nose because there was just too many (that's how bad it was.). But once I started exfoliating my skin a lot more, those little suckers disappeared, so exfoliants are a huge part of my life especially during the winter, when my skin tends to get on the drier side. I purchased the Nucelle Papaya Exfoliator recently, and am in love with this exfoliator. Click Below to Read More

The super fine crushed walnut grains in this are superior. They thoroughly cleanse my skin and remove those dry patches, while also leaving my skin so soft, and moisturized. The fact that it contains papaya is awesome too because the enzymes in papaya are a natural peel. It also has other beneficial ingredients which I love such as Apricot Kernel Oil, Peppermint, cucumber Extract. The product smells a lot like oatmeal. I use a dime size amount for my whole face, and find that this product packs a powerful punch with just a little used. My qualm with this product is it contains parabens. If i was pregnant, I wouldn't touch this product (since I stayed away from parabens and phthalates while pregnant) but since I'm not, I do love the results I get with this exfoliator.

Tarte Pure Maracuja Oil Review

Hey loves, how you been? Honestly I'm sorry I've been so bad about blogging. I've been a bit crazed. I'm getting ready for my trip to LA so life has been hectic. I hope your holidays have been amazing!! What did you get for Christmas? I hope everything you wanted! But let's talk beauty. For the last few weeks, I've been using Tarte Maracuja Oil. You girls know I am the Queen of oils. I love oils. They are not only fantastic beauty products but they are super affordable too (well most of them are). We've talked about the benefits of coconut oil, jojoba, olive oil, avocado oil, emu oil etc on this site. But I have to be super particular about the oils I use on my face because my skin is super sensitive and acne prone. Maracuja oil (passion fruit oil) is a oil found in the Amazon. It contains high amounts of essential fatty acids including Linoleic acid (which is so good for the skin and hair), Calcium, Vitamins A and vitamin C. It's gotten some pretty great reviews, and I've been using it as well, and so has Mr. Milly. Click Below To read more

I'll tell you one thing, I recently tested a home peel that left my skin horribly red and made it super flaky with dry scaly patches, for about five days. I tried the maracuja oil after, and it helped tremendously. After using it for one day, my skin was back to normal. I thought that was pretty great. When applied, I use about three drops on my whole face. The oil which has a slight scent ( reminds me of vegetable oil) sinks right into my skin, doesn't break me out and leaves my skin super hydrated and so smooth without feeling greasy. Many people use it in their hair, which makes sense because it contains a high amount of linoleic acid (a fatty acid that works wonders on hair). I haven't tried that yet. All in all, I like it. What I don't like is the price. $46.00 is expensive for an oil.

Therapy Thursdays: Stop Worrying about What Others Are Doing!

A few days ago I was taking a new set of professional headshots. The photographer had a great assistant who wanted to do my makeup. Since her makeup looked flawless, I agreed, and after she was done, I was so pleased with her work. My makeup looked so great and finally I had headshot pics that looked decent. (I am incredibly un photogenic.) While she was doing my makeup she was complaining that she wasn't getting enough work, and she didn't have enough money etc. This girl's makeup skills were awesome. She was super pretty and seemed really sweet with great energy, so the first thing I said to her after her complaining was, "You're incredibly talented, why not start doing youtube videos, you can make some serious money." Right away she told me, "nah, no one would notice me, there's way too many people doing youtubes." Sadly, I've heard that before in many things not just youtube. I'll suggest an area someone may want to work in and they'll tell me, "No that field is oversaturated, I can't work there, or no one would notice me." That's a big mistake in thinking. STOP looking at what other people are doing and focus on what you're doing!!! Again, last year I suggested to a girl at Sephora that she should start doing youtubes. She told me "nah, too many peeps are doing youtubes etc." I told her the same thing I'm telling you. Stop focusing on what others are doing and focus on your greatness. She was super talented, and guess what, I was looking for a video two weeks ago on Youtube, and saw she had started a channel, and already had almost 20,000 subscribers. Youtube is JUST an example, but what Im saying to you is this, if you are scared to get into an industry, or do something because you feel like it's either "oversaturated" or "just too much competition" or because you think other people are doing it better, then you will not get anywhere in life. Real successful people could care less what others are doing. They know they are geat! They know they can bring a new spin to an industry. Here's another example, when I first told a few friends I wanted to blog, the first thing they told me "don't do it" " too oversaturated" "no one will notice your blog." I'm happy to say that my blog may NOT be the biggest but I've gotten so many great opportunities through it, and it is one of the best things I've ever done and I always tell peeps if you are passionate about something, start a blog! I am so happy I chose not to listen to my friends, and not to focus on what others were doing, and just focus on what I was doing. Again, Stop looking at what others are doing in life and focus on how you will improve your talents, how you will bring a new spin to an area whether it's youtube or any field in life. You can do anything. You are destined for Greatness. Remember that. Here's a quote from an unlikely source. I follow football player Chad Ochocinco on twitter. He's hysterically funny but also offers great advice to his followers. He once tweeted this:

"Do you ever notice that successful people don't care about what others are doing. It's hard to eat your food when looking at someone else's plate."

Remember that!

Now go after your dreams and stop worrying about other peeps."

Maybelline Super Stay 10 Stain Gloss Review and Swatches

Maybelline's spring collection, includes the Super Stay 10 Stain Gloss and these are probably my favorite products. Maybelline says " Combining the staying power of a stain with the shine of a gloss, SuperStay 10HR Stain Gloss provides vibrant shine, lasting color and a weightless feel – all in one product." And I agree. I thoroughly tested the gloss Muave Dream. Muave dream is such a pretty cranberry color, It's a super rich shiny opaque gloss, but after 10 hours (I slept with this one, and drank my smoothie with it and ate dinner with it on.) the color was not as vibrant, but still very much present on my lips, like a stain. Also, it doesn't dry out your lips at all and I noticed that when I applied this, it gave my lips a cool sensation in the beginning. I love the applicator too. It looks like a mini spatula and it really ensures that the color goes on evenly.

When swatching these on my arm they were so rich, and when I tried to take them off so I could swatch the other colors, it wasn't easy. These have serious staying power, non drying, very pigmented, and taste yummy. They get an A in my book.

I really love the high quality of Maybelline's spring collection. They are serious competition for higher- end glosses.

Beauty Holiday Gift Guide

Alright, I'll be honest, I haven't even started my Christmas shopping yet. Ok I'll be super duper honest, I don't even have a Christmas tree up either. I tried to do both on Saturday, go xmas shopping and buy the tree, but alas, I was busy tending to sick family. Sonia Kashuk Prepping for the Party Lip & Eye Palette

I love this palette and will actually be doing a separate review of it probably by end of week. The shadows are super pigmented (and their taupe is so pretty). The lip colors are very pretty too, and a $20.00 It's a steal, and the perfect stocking stuffer. I also love that there is an instructional on how to use it!

Maybelline Illegal Length Mascara Review & Demo

The last Maybelline mascara releases have been pretty amazing. Falsies Flared is a staples in my makeup bag, and now for the spring Maybelline is releasing their Illegal Lengths Mascara which I'm happy to say may replace my Falsies Flared as my current fave drugstore mascara. This mascara incorporates 4mm black fibers into the formula. Maybelline says " The elongated, dark fibers provide a dramatic, almost illegal length to lashes." The mascara is supposed to contain a Fiber Fix formula that actually seals the fibers to each lash while the fiber fix brush catches each lash for optimal fiber placement.

That all sounds peachy, but you know how I am. The proof is in the pudding! When I look at the wand, I noticed it was pretty standard looking, with thick fibers.

Anyway, after trying, I'm in love with this mascara. Yes it does give me super duper length, not sure if it's 4mm length, but man they look longer, but also I really love the amount of volume I get from this mascara without any clumping at all. Anyway, I placed the mascara on the left eye, and left my right eye empty so you can see the difference. Check it out:

I have no makeup on in this pic, excuse the redness on my nose, I had just given myself a peel with a product that really gave me a bad reaction. Anyway, I love this mascara. Also, you can keep applying this mascara and it gives you the sexiest longest lashes ever, without being all clumpy. All in all, I tend to carry three mascaras in my bag, this will be one of them.

Maybelline Color Tattoo 24 hour Cream Gel Eyeshadow Review & Swatches

Maybelline is really bringing the heat with their spring collection and their new Maybelline Color Tattoo 24 hour Cream Gel Eye shadows are freaking amazing! (Sorry for the use of the word "freaking' but man these are so good.) These remind me so much of Mac Paintpots. First of all they are very pigmented, and the color selection is pretty beautiful too, from taupes to emeralds, they've got a lot of shades covered. They feel very smooth on my fingers and on my lids they apply pretty opaque, and they don't crease at all. Now Maybelline says they last 24 hours. I can't attest to that, but I know they do last longer than 12 hours, because I had the "Bold as Gold" shade and "Tough As Taupe" on that long and they still looked fresh. Also, another thing that I I loved, was that these were so blendable. Cream shadows usually become hard to blend pretty quick after application, but not these. All in all, I am obsessed with these, especially the bold gold, and tough as taupe, and Bad To The Bronze and even that Fierce &Tangy (I love oranges). These will be available in the spring for $6.99, and I believe that is an insane price for these. They are in my opinion the same quality as Mac Paintpots, but not as drying and much cheaper.

Hey guys, how was your weekend? Mine was pretty mellow. Lil man was super sick so we had a rough weekend. While he napped, I was able to watch some really great films. One of the best parts of working behind the scenes in the news was that I was able to become a member of the Writers Guild.

The Writers Guild is the group that vote for movies in awards so I usually get movies while they are in theaters or before hand. I highly recommend, Young Adult (Charlize Theron is fantastic in this), The Descendants (George Clooney is at his best, and man is he sexy.) J Edgar (I'm a huge Leonardo Di Caprio Fan,) and Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close (Tom Hanks can do no wrong since Forest Gump). But that was my weekend. Anyway winner of the Tarte Palette is :

My absolute fave of the twelve that I received is the Plum Wine Blush a gorgeous berry that adds a beautiful "just had the best night with Mr. Milly flush" to my tan cheeks (I took that line from one of my readers Mrs. Farrah lol). So my fave color, would have to be Plum Wine, a perfect berry, that gives my tan cheeks a beautiful rosy but natural looking flush. A few things I loved about this blush: the way it felt on my skin, and how it seemed to melt right into my cheeks. How it blended really well. I also loved how buildable this blush is. Plum Wine is indeed rich, and with one swipe of your fingers ( I always use my fingers to apply cream blushes.)you can get some serious color, but you can also apply with a light touch, and still have a slight flush as well. Yesterday I was in a bit of a rush, and didn't have time for eyeshadow, so I applied quick eyeliner (using Maybelline's newest eyeliner which is the bomb.com) and the blush, and their newest lip stain, and I had a pretty quick but good look (at least I thought it looked nice). lol

Here's what I didn't like. After maybe three hours, I looked in the mirror and said "Oh no, where's the blush?" The blush was fading, and fading fast, and by four hours it was gone from my cheeks. Gosh Darnit, but hey, it was great while it lasted.

I believe these blushes will be available beginning January.

Laura Mercier Twilight Nail Polish Review

I think we can all tell from this site, that Purple is one of my fave colors. So, let's talk about Laura Mercier's Twilight nail polish. Can we talk about how gorgeous this shade is? Laura Mercier hasn't done a nail polish in years, so this is super exciting, plus look how gorgeous this violet shimmery color is. Wearing it today. It's fast drying (was typing on my comp within 5 minutes of using with no problems) and applies very evenly. Basically, I loves it!

What are your thoughts on this color?

Lush Ro's Argan Body Conditioner Review=Yummy!

Some products are really worth their weight in gold, and Lush's Ro's Argan Body Conditioner is one of them. The scent of this alone is so darn delicious. It's a light rose scent that lingers on the skin for hours. When I can't stop smelling myself, you know it's a good product. When Mr. Milly can't stop remarking how good I smell, then I know I've got to buy tubs of the stuff. Now let's get into it's moisturizing properties, first of all, all Lush's stuff is handmade, and this contains some super moisturizing ingredients like Brazil Nut Oil, Capuacu butter, cocoa butter, shea butter, argan oil, etc. This product is a dream for dry skin. During the winter my legs can get so dry and ashy, and it's so noticeable because of my tan skin. With this stuff, my legs stay smooth, and ashless all day. woo hoo! The Ro's Argan Body Conditioner is meant to be used the same way you use a hair conditioner. Lather it on your skin, wait a few minutes, and then rinse, and I did that for the first few days, but then I decided I loved the scent so much, why not leave it on the skin, and that's what I've been doing lately. I use it in the shower and afterward, I apply it all over my skin and leave on. It moisturizes my dry skin so well, leaves it super duper hydrated, and the scent is just so pretty and the fact that this is all natural, is a huge win win for me.

Loving Tarte Puttin' On The Glitz Holiday Purse & Palette Swatches & look

Hey loves, how was your weekend. I hope amazing. Mine was fun, we'll talk more about it later, but let's start the week right with Tarte's Puttin' on the Glitz Palette and purse which is my current obsession. First of all, look how gorgeous the purse is. I actually wore it out last night for date night. But then check the interior, I was able to fit my credit cards, my learners permit (don't judge me because I failed the driving test twice) and cash. You can also fit one of Tarte's Puttin on the Glitz Palette's as well and the lip gloss.

Here's a look I created using the Tarte' Puttin on the Gitz Girl's Night Out Shadows. I used the Tarte Multipleyes on the top lid, and a green eyeliner on bottom lid. The green eyeliner on bottom is not Tarte's.

OH FYI, If you're not too savvy with eye makeup, Tarte's got you covered. The Puttin on The Glitz Palette contains instructions on 3 different eye looks.

Now the review. I wore Girls Night Out with Mr. Milly and found there was no creasing, the shadows were seriously pigmented, and blended super well together.There was a very slight amount of fall out with one of the shadows. The gloss applied smoothly, and didn't feel sticky at all. I'm so not a fan of sticky glosses especially when it's windy! Anyway, this gloss lasted about two and a half to three hours before I felt I needed to reapply.

All in all this is probably one of the best beauty gifts you can give, The gorgeous packaging, the 3 palettes that give you a total of 18 blushes, a blush, bronzer, and a highlight, and a lip gloss, that's pretty sweet.

I firmly believe that you should always be thankful to people when they do something nice for you. Abuela used to always tell me, no one has to do anything for you so when they do, make sure you show them appreciation. Lashes day After they Were done

About a month ago JJ lashes in NYC invited me to get their new Black Diamond Lash Set at their salon located in Midtown Manhattan. The Black Diamond Lash set consist of 120 individual lashes applied to each eye. When I got there, I noticed the place consisted of about eight beds. Six of the beds were already full, and many of the women were fast asleep while getting their lashes done. I was approached by one of the girls Jessie, who introduced herself and brought a small book showing me the various lash sizes. I asked her to give me a natural but slightly dramatic lash (since I was doing my Good Morning Connecticut segment the next morning). As I was led to the back, Jessie asked me to lay down. She applied tape on my bottom eye basically to make sure they remained close. She told me to try to take a nap, but I was awake for about 10 minutes as she worked her magic, and all of a sudden I felt the most amazing pressure on my feet. "What The Heck?" I thought. I couldn't open my eyes but Jessie told me "yes you are getting a foot massage." For the next 10 minutes, I received a glorious foot massage while getting my lashes done. It was out of this world. Everyone who gets their lashes done at JJ Lashes, gets a complimentary foot massage. After the massage, I fell right to sleep and woke up an hour and a half later with some gorgeous thick long lashes. The only feeling I felt while getting the lashes was a slight breeze on my lashes. That is it. At the end of the eyelash extension application (which took about an hour and a half), they give you a special mascara to use on your lashes to separate them which is great (For some reason, I really need to put mascara on my lashes after I do my makeup.) I had them in for a solid three weeks without any problems at all. Even when I rubbed my eyes, the lashes stayed in place. Sometimes I woke up and they looked a little unruly but then i quickly fixed them with the mascara they gave me. Unfortunately I had to take them off because as a blogger, I need to begin reviewing mascaras again. Honestly, I've gotten Lash extensions a few times. I have never gotten this many compliments on my lashes. It was almost weird. When I went to get my hair done, when I went to get a facial, when I bought some jewelry off of a vendor in the city,when I went to do my segment, everyone asked about these lashes. I loved them so much that, I booked another appointment in their new soho location in the beginning of January to get this black diamond set again, since I"m going to the Peoples Choice Awards. Woohoo (I will be paying for the service when I go). All in all I highly recommend JJ Lashes. The collection has everything from fabulous cocktail rings, to bangles, cuffs, necklaces, earrings, there is a variety for everyone and for every occasion. I made sure to involve my friends in the creation of the line, to make sure I was including enough variety, as everyone has unique tastes and a different preference when it comes to jewelry.

4) What are some of your favorite pieces in the line?

I adore the Vermeil Smokey quartz/white quartz "couture" bangle because I originally made this bracelet for my dear friend Eva Longoria for my Loren Jewels line, everyone loved it, but it was not affordable for everyone. I decided to create this piece for the Yours by Loren line so that every woman would have the opportunity to own such a beautiful bracelet but at less than a fraction of the price. The Black rhodium white zircon “Bridge" ring is an amazing piece, the architecture of the ring reminds of all of the beautiful bridges in the world and the design of the ring is very unique. The moonstone and black onyx ring is incredibly chic and can be worn from day to night-it’s also the perfect accessory for the upcoming holiday season and will add the PERFECT amount of shimmer to any outfit. I will definitely be wearing it this holiday season!

5) How long did you work on the line?

I have always wanted to create an affordable jewelry line for women, but the intense planning, designing and creating took me about 6 months. I am so excited for it to go live on Dec. 12 on HSN. I will be live on-air from 10pm EST-12am EST.

6) What made you decide to exclusively sell it on HSN?

The demographics of HSN are unbelievable. It’s a network geared mostly towards women and is seen in 97 million homes. There is an affordable price point of the products sold on the network and I happen to love the variety of products they sell. Motives by Loren Ridinger Plum Pretty Palette Makes Me Smile

As you can see from the color of my website, purple happens to be one of my favorite colors. So when I was sent the Motives by Loren Ridinger Holiday Plum Pretty palette, and I opened it, well it was love at first sight This palette consist of five super pigmented shades, a silver, a matte purple, an iridescent pink, a shimmery purple pink, and a deeper pink.

I'm so pleased to say that not only are these colors beautiful, but these shadows themselves are the bomb.com. They blend so well together and offer great color payoff. I've worn the shades in this palette a few times and experienced no creasing, and very minimal fall out, but only with the fourth color. To get this look, I applied Heiress into the inner corner and to the lower lash line. I then mixed heiress, and twinkle together, and applied to the rest of the lid. I then mixed glamour and studio 54 together and applied to the outer corner. I then put Breaking Dawn right in the middle of the eye. I think this palette would look great on just about everyone. All in all, I really like this palette, and will def be using it often especially during the holidays.

Makeup Master Scott Barnes-5 Makeup Tips On how To Look 10 Years Younger

He is the man credited with giving Jennifer Lopez her famous glow! Friend to the blog, Scott Barnes, has been the personal makeup artist to the famed actress/singer/producer (what hasn't JLO done) for more than 10 years, and he's also worked on countless celebs as well. Today on BeautyLogic, he's dishing on how we can use makeup to look 10 years younger.

1) Use concealer! Find one with a little pink undertone, which will add youth when used under your eyes

2) Bronzer – work from the outside of your face in, to create a “halo effect” and beautiful “lit from within” glow. The last thing you want to do is add dark bronzer under your eyes (or up to the side of your nose) where your skin is already darker, and definitely avoid applying bronzer to the creases around your mouth and eyes, as that will make you look older. I like Guerlain Bronzer.

3) Avoid a dark, harsh lip – this can age your face.

4) Try a softer blush, I recommend a peach with a gold undertone or Nars Orgasm.

5) Individual lashes can brighten your eyes and make them look bigger! Always use an eye lasher curler – I like the one from Japonesque – and I like Naphcon A eyedrops), which make your eyes look rested.

Duri Nailpolish Holiday Collection 2011 Review

Hey love bugs, how are you? How was your weekend? Did you do anything fun? Saturday I spent the day with the family, and at night, hubby and I headed to the Cotto Vs Margarito boxing match. The only sport I can watch is boxing .One of hubby's clients gave us box seats so that was super fun.

But Sunday it was family day too, I also got caught up in a Snapped marathon. (That show about women who kill, what's up with these ladies?) Anyway, let's talk beauty, and especially the new Duri Holiday Nail Polish Collection. We've got a few sparkles, a cream finish, and shimmers. These colors reminded me so much of Christmas! From the green, to the red glitter, to the color named Icicle which looked like snow. I fell in love with most of the colors. Click below to read more and see full pics of the collection:

All that Glitters-Two coats needed with this gorgeous gold and red glitter polish to get full coverage. When I was a kid, my mom had a beautiful Christmas ornament that was the same color.

Icicle-Two coats needed for this clear based silver glitter polish. This reminds me so much of snow. Love this.

Toxic-Duri describes this as a neon green. However, for me this is a little deeper than a neon green. Also, you need three coats with this polish. The first two just looked all splotchy, three made it a lot better. This was my least favorite. It reminded me of my Christmas tree.

Night Before Christmas-My favorite color. A true deep berry red with specks of gold glitter. This reminds me of a table cloth I have that I only put out during Christmas

Path of Light-My 2nd favorite. A beautiful rose pink with shimmer. Gorgeous! I wore a dress the exact same color for christmas last year.

Anyway this collection is pretty beautiful. The polishes apply really smoothly. I had no issues with the polish itself, except with the green color Toxic. With two coats the polish still looked uneven but when I upped it to three, I was ok.

All in all, I'd give this collection an A-

Becca Wild Honey Blush Review

Some days I just don't have time to apply eye shadows or foundation. If I'm in a rush, usually I'll throw Linette (name I gave my hair) in a messy bun, and wear only mascara or blush. (Lately I haven't needed mascara though, I'll tell you why tomorrow). I can't be without blush though!. Blush can instantly transform my tired and" haven't had a good night's sleep" face (due to Mr. Milly snoring) into a face that looks like it's slept for 10 hours or more. Step in Becca Wild Honey Blush. A beautiful silky mineral peach nude blush that gives my tan skin a gorgeous glow without packing on too much sparkle. Yes you've got a little bit of shimmer but nothing crazy. With two swaps of this silky brush I've got a glowing peach highlight to my cheeks. This blush is also paraben and talc free and contains vitamins to not only give your skin a glow, but nourish it as well. I love the beauty effect of it. My qualm with this brush- the price. $32.00.

All in all I love the glow this blush gives my cheeks (as you can see in this pic).

As you girls know the plan with my life is to: 1) beauty or lifestyle report on a major network 2)stay looking 21 forever by anti-aging with powerful antioxidants internally and externally. Since the under eye is one of the first places to show signs of aging due to it being the thinnest skin on the body, I don't PLAY any games when it comes to eye creams. I apply eye creams religiously in the morning and at night (it's so important for you to apply your eye creams at night, because remember your skin repairs itself during that time). My latest eye cream and the one I've been testing for six weeks is Caudalie Premier Cru The Eye Cream.

I am a fan of many Caudalie products because they understand the antioxidant and anti-aging power of grapes. This product contains three super potent ingredients grape-seed Polyphenols, Resveratrol and grape vine sap. If you saw my CVS video you saw that I loved grape seeds. Caudalie says this targets "wrinkles, loss of elasticity, dehydration, dark circles, puffiness, dark spots and loss of radiance." I still don't have wrinkles under my eyes however, all I know is when I apply this cream under my eye area, it's much more hydrated throughout the day. It sinks right into the skin while still keeping it moisturized and with all those antioxidants contained in this little bottle, my goal of looking 21 forever may happen. :-)

Cassie's Movie Opens Today Kinyarwanda

Anyway, her movie Kinyarwanda that won at Sundance actually opens today in theaters around the world. Famed Film Critic Roger Ebert gave the movie four stars yesterday Here is the official trailer. Lush Lustre Body Dusting Powder Review

If I'm going on a date with Mr. Milly or to an event in the evening, one thing I always love is to add a little golden glimmer to my decolette area and to my legs. My new favorite Body glow product is Lush's Lustre Dusting Powder. The scent of this alone is addicting. It's pure Jasmine which happens to be one of my absolute favorite scents. And the glow it gives my tan skin is out of this world. It's not too much, just a slight golden shimmer. I love that this is a powder too because it doesn't rub off on my clothes. Many of these glowey products although they claim they don't rub off on your clothes, they do! This doesn't get my clothes dirty, smells AMAZING, and leaves my skin feeling silky smooth with a gorgeous golden glow. And this is only $14.95 for a bottle that will last you forever. Love!!!

Therapy Thursdays: When Someone Tells You It Can't Be Done, Make Sure You Prove them Wrong!

A few years back, I attended the NBC digital Journalism school in NYC for 8 weeks. One of my assignments was to interview someone spectacular. I immediately thought of this young girl Leanna Archer. She was a 12 year old who had started her own hair care line (at the age of 9), and was making about $100,000 a year with it. Long story short, I contacted her dad (who had actually quit his job to begin working for her) and asked if I could interview her. I went over to her house, and met her amazing family, (beyond nice people) and had a great time while interviewing her. One of the questions I asked this young girl was, "Where does your motivation came from?" Her answer still resonates with me to this day. “When someone tells me no, I work extra hard to prove them wrong.”

In life you will hear NO a lot. You will hear, "You Can’t do this" or "You Can’t Do That." It happens to everyone. HOWEVER, the difference between someone who is a winner and someone who isn’t, is the winner never listens to NO and doesn't give up. Leanna was told many times she could not start her company at 9 years old. Think about it. You probably would have told her the same thing. I probably would have too. But this now 15 year old didn’t listen to the naysayers, she listened to her heart and she never gave up. She kept going. And now at sixteen she is making over $100,000 a year because of her company. The moral of this story: If you are confident about your abilities, if you know that something can be done, and someone tells you no, prove them wrong. Don't ever think someone knows more than you about you! You can do it! Don't give up. If a nine year old with a vision can make sure her dreams come true, then why can't you?

"Dreams are Wild, but they are wild enough to come true"

So true Leanna, I'm making sure to try to make my dreams come true. I hope you guys will do the same. Remember you've got one life to live, make sure you're living it doing something you love. And when someone tells you no, you make sure to prove them wrong!

Prep those Lips for Winter

As I told you girls before, when I was in ninth grade, I thought I was in love with this 10th grader We were doing great, (at least I thought we were) until one day he told me that he could no longer see me. I couldn't believe it. When I asked why, his excuse was, that my chapped lips really bothered him. At the time I had braces, so I'm sure that it didn't help the chapped lip problem. But I was so sad. Years later, you'll never ever find me with chapped lips. I'm a little insane when it comes to my lips, and have been for years. So here are some things I do to keep my lips ultra hydrated especially in the cold weather. Click below to read more and to find out why getting dumped was a great thing:

Hydrate Hydrate Hydrate
When I don't drink water throughout the day, not only do I notice my mouth will have a weird taste, but I also notice it in my lips. They become a dry ashy chapped mess. Make sure you are drinking water, or coconut water (which I love because it's super hydrating and boost your metabolism) or eat a lot of fruits too. That will give you not only water from the fruits but antioxidants as well.

Exfoliate

I exfoliate my lips every single morning and night. Sometimes I use my clarisonic, but sometimes I just grab some olive oil or sugar, or coconut oil and sugar, and get to work on my lips with a toothbrush. I do this for about a minute. It removes any dry skin, and keeps them moist as well and your lips always look plumper after wards.

Lip Balms

You can apply more oil to the lips if you want to keep them hydrated, but I have a few favorite lip balms. EOS makes a great one and the are 95% organic. Rosebud Salve, and Carmex are great too. Sleep with that on and when you wake up, you'll see how great your lips look and feel. And if you're really ~~crazy~~ concerned about chapped lips like me, do all this again in the morning.

All in all, my 9th grade boyfriend dumping me was one of the best things ever for a few reasons. It taught me to always keep my lips hydrated, so that they never ever become a chapped mess, and I recently heard he's in jail so I dodged a bullet with him anyway.

Clarins Holiday Smokey Passion Eye Quartet Mineral Palette

Clarins sent over their Holiday Smokey Passion Eye Quartet Mineral Palette recently. In this palette you'll find four eyeshadows, a satin rose copper, a creamy silver, a black with silver shimmer, and a satin gray plum shade. I like this palette. The shadows (besides the silver) are super rich and easily blendable. I didn't experience much fallout. However, I can do without that creamy silver color. I tried to use it on the lid, and it was seriously streaky. It felt like I had to pack on way too much product to get it to be even so I'd probably just reserve it for the inner corner of my eye. Obsessed with G2 Organics Odorless Nail Polish Remover

When G2 Organics approached me about reviewing their odorless nail polish remover, I was a little skeptical. Odorless? How can a nail polish remover be odorless. Or maybe it is odorless, but it probably doesn't work well and I'll have to use half of the bottle to remove polish from just one of my nails. I'm happy to say peeps, I was so wrong. The G2 Organics nail polish remover is odorless and it works just as good as those other stinky nail polish remover I've tried. This polish remover curtains only five ingredients. Ethyl Alchohol, Butyl, Digicol, Aloe Vera, Embittering agent & Vitamin E. Oh also, if you're a Reiki fan, this polish remover is Reiki charged. Reiki is a Japanese technique used for relaxation.The bottle contains quartz crystals that have been Reiki charged to create harmony and well being with each use. Now I'm not sure if I felt better emotionally after using this, but what I do know is that it removed all of my polish, and the product smells like nothing, absolutely nothing! Also, many times I'll use nail polish remover and the skin around my nails will be dry as heck. Not with this product. My skin was still soft. All in all, if you're looking for an odorless nail polish remover, I highly recommend the G2 Organics Odorless Nail Polish Remover. My qualm with this product is the price though. At $15.95 it is a little pricey.

Deborah Lippmann Holiday 2011

Glitter is everywhere this season and Deborah Lippmann really stepped it up a notch with her Holiday Collection. Although the collection is both glitter and metallic, I was sent, Shake Your Groove Thing Polish, which was pure gold glitter with a clear base. You girls know how I love me some gold glitter! (Actually I like anything gold.) I was a little nervous about applying this polish. I thought it would be messy but not at all. The clear base coat is pretty thin, so you're able to really work with this polish without it being messy. With this polish, you really can’t apply your nail polish like normal. You have to paint the nails, then apply the glitter around empty parts of your nails. It’s super easy, and I only had to do it three times to really get full coverage on my nails, and when I was done, look how gorgeous my nails looked. Just thick rich pure gold glitter on my nails.After about 4 minutes I would say my nails were fully dried. I didn't use a top coat with this.

Weekend Updates & Milly a reggae singer?

Hey Loves, how was your Thanksgiving weekend. I hope amazing. Mine was a lot of fun. On Thursday, we went to see the Macys Annual Thanksgiving Parade. It was a lot of fun, and we had a great view of all of the floats. Here's a pic I took.

Then Thursday night, we went to my grandfather's house to celebrate Thanksgiving. It was a good time, but sad as well. This was the first Thanksgiving without my abuela. My grandparents were married for over 55 years, so my granddad was a little sad. The food was amazing though. So many family members. So much Food. Yum!! I showed my family my Good Morning Connecticut segment, and they all laughed at my "professional voice." lol, whatever. On Friday I was going to be brave and do Black Friday but I decided against it. Then Sunday, Hubby and I did our date night. We walked around dowtown Manhattan for a while. I really wanted to buy some pictures, but we just don't have the same taste in photos. Makeup Used For My Good Morning Connecticut Segment

Hey loves, how was your thanksgiving. Mine was a lot of fun. Went to the parade, and hung with about forty crazy Dominican family members. Had so much fun, and so much food. YUM! I hope yours was amazing and you ate like crazy. I've gotten a lot of emails from you guys asking about the makeup used on my Good Morning Connecticut Segment. When I'm prepping for a segment, the last thing I want to worry about is my makeup, so I always call on one of my closest friend Pam Arnone. Pam and I met a few years back when I worked at the local Fox Channel in NYC. She was a makeup artist there, and we hit it off right away.I feel incredibly close to her, and know that she'll always make me look my best.

Anyway, here's what Pam used according to her:

"FOUNDATION AND CONCEALER

These are the products I used to create Milly's look. Since she is already beautiful I kept it simple.

I applied the foundation with a brush. You can achieve a smooth application using a brush...I applied the concealer with a brush as well...a sponge is porous and will absorb most of the product. Use sponges with thick cream foundations as apposed to liquid.

Before moving on to eyes It's really important to set entire the face with powder. I use translucent because it's very light and has very little pigment. It won't lay heavy over the foundation and won't alter the tone/shade.

I used 2 eye shadows...Taupe on the entire lid and up to the crease and under her bottom lashes. Hush under the brow...I use this color as a high lighter. It's subtle and not as bright as the typical whiter shades. I didn't go crazy with eye liner...Just a regular line close to the base of the upper lashes to create a thicker lash line and make them pop!

Harmony is a great blush...I've been using it for years. It looks very natural on Milly's complexion. Then I simply brightened her apples with Shy Pink. Finally, I loved her gloss which was Guerlain 866."

Therapy Thursdays: Mr. Milly's Guide - Six Things to NEVER do on a First Date

Girls, this article is written by Mr. Milly. I only edited it a little. All of these opinions are his own. I'm aware it's not Thursday. I forgot to post this yesterday. So without further Ado, here's Mr. Milly:

"When Milly asked me to tell you girls Six Things You Should Never Do On a First Date, I wasn't sure why she thought I would be an expert in that but since she threatened no cooking for a month I knew I better get right to it. These are six things you should never do on a first date if you're looking for a serious relationship. Click below to read Mr. Milly's Words of Wisdom:

1)Don't give too much info about yourself on the first date: I don't care how great the date is going. Remember you just met this person. You wouldn't tell a stranger on the street your life problems. I say this because honestly, when I first met Milly, she didn't tell me too much about herself, and after that first date, I remembered I was dying for a second date because I realized I really wanted to know more about her.

2) Don't talk about your ex: This is a big NO NO. He/She should never ever come up in the conversation, and if your date tries to bring them up, say that you prefer not talking about him/her. Believe me, it looks a lot better if your exes don't come up in the first date convo.

3) Don't get drunk: This may just be common sense, but you'll be surprised at how many times I hear about this from friends. The woman gets comfortable, thinks the guy is her new best friend, and all of a sudden, boom, she's drunk. It's not a good look, and if the guy is serious, you'll never hear back from him again.

4) Make decisions: My first date with Milly, I called her before hand, and asked her what she wanted to do. I was super impressed at how she took charge. Right away she told me she would love to try a new restaurant in Queens. That was great for me and super easy. I booked the reservation, and although the restaurant was horrible, I was really impressed that she knew what she wanted.

5) Don't get intimate-If you're looking for a serious relationship with someone, (and other guys would kill me for telling you this) you should not get intimate on the first date and that means a first kiss too. I don't care if you're having the best first date of your life, and you think this guy will be your husband and the father of your kids. I always hear Milly tell her friends this, and this is the first time I'll admit that she's right, "Men are hunters and they like to hunt, so don't make things too easy for them." This is absolutely true. If you make things too easy for a man in the beginning, including giving too much of yourself, believe me, they won't feel the need to chase you, and once that chase factor goes away in the beginning, you'll be done.

6) Wait till he calls you after: A lot of my Friends have told me that they'll go on a great first date with a woman, and immediately right after, they'll get a text, or a call from her. They don't tell me in a good way. I'm not saying that you should never call, but honestly there's nothing wrong with waiting for a guy to call you after a first date. Let me tell you something, if a guy is interested in you, he will do anything in his power to get near you. Contrary to popular belief, a man who wants to see you, will break arrangements with his boys to get near you, a man who wants to see you, will stop watching sports to see you. He will do anything! So if he is interested, believe me, you will hear from him. If not then don't worry about it. There's plenty of other fish in the sea.

A few things I'm thankful for:
I'm thankful for every member of my family.
I'm thankful for an old friend who set me up on a blind date and forced me to go 7 years ago, although I had sworn off dating. That blind date turned out to be the most beautiful man I ever met, and we've been with each other ever since.
I"m thankful for all of the experiences I've had in my life. The good and bad. Yes, I'm thankful for the bad too, because I have learned many lessons from them!
I'm thankful for you guys. I've been blogging for almost five years, and have had the opportunity to meet many of you and forge friendships with many of you, I truly appreciate you.

Milani Red Vino Blush! Why Yes Please!

As I told you girls before, my parents have the best beauty finds in their neighborhood. Where I live, I never find Milani blushes, but around my parent's home, I can always find a wide array of beauty products not available in my hood. My new drugstore find is Milani Red Vino Baked Powder Blush. I love Milani's Baked Powder blushes and have reviewed Corallina and Luminoso here. This blush is so freaking pretty on my tan skin. In the pan, you'll see a berry blush wish massive golden shimmer (the shimmer looks almost scary) but on the skin, this leaves a stunning deep pink glow to my cheeks with just a hint of sparkle (nothing crazy). The blush is so pigmented too. First time I applied, I was a little too heavy handed with my brush, and it looked like I had rosacea. My cheeks were way too red, but once I mastered the application, I got left with a gorgeous natural flush to the skin for about a good six hours. On tan and dark complexions, I think this blush would look stunning. Here's a swatch:

I actually picked two of them just because I hear Milani likes to discontinue stuff.

June Jacobs Perfect Pumpkin Peeling Enzyme Mask

I have always suffered from hyperpigmentation. My siblings had the clearest most beautiful skin, but I was never that lucky. Growing up, my cheeks were full of dark marks, (left over from acne). Man it was hard being a teen (thank Heavens for my discovery of concealer and foundation). Even now as a grown woman I still get occasional zits (especially when it's my time of month!) and after that I know I'll have to work heavy duty to get rid of the brown mark left behind. Peels are a huge part of helping my dark marks go away and one I've been doing once a week for the last six weeks that I like is June Jacobs Pumpkin Enzyme Mask. This contains 15% pumpkin extract. Pumpkin extract is seriously nutrient rich with essential fatty acids, and zinc (Zinc is a natural anti-inflammatory) . This mask is also power packed with antioxidants, like green tea and red wine. So here's how i use it. The mask is fairly thick, a gel like consistency, and smells delicious, like pumpkin (I'm all about pumpkin recently, maybe it's because of thanksgiving.). I apply to my face, and leave this on for 10 minutes. I once left it on for 20 minutes (big mistake, skin was so red). I then remove. After 10 minutes, my skin is left glowing and soft. I don't know if this is the reason my marks have been going away so fast lately (remember I use about 10 products a day) but what i do notice is right after using this, my skin really feels smooth, and silky, and when I use my foundation, it just seems to apply better. I also love the massive sources of antioxidants in this. You girls know the plan: Looking 21 Forever! My qualm with this product is the name. This is def not a peeling masque. You have to wash it off.

All in all if you've never tried June Jacobs Mask you may want to give this a whirl.

Socap Extensions & Capelli D'Oro Salon

As I told you girls before six weeks ago, Socap Extensions invited me to get extensions at the famed Capelli D’Oro in NYC on 5^th ave. Since my hair is already pretty long (3 inches below bra strap, you can look at my past salon reviews to see how it looked before the extensions) I didn’t know if I should do it, but since I like to try anything beauty related once, I decided, What the hey! My plan was to review the extensions a week after getting them, but then I remembered that Leslie (the hairstylist) told me that I should have them in for six weeks before having to get any maintenance so I decided to wait the six weeks to see (I want this review as accurate as possible), and let’s just say, Leslie was right. Leslie Correa(my hairstylist) has been a hairstylist for over thirty years and is so knowledgeable when it comes to hair. (He’s a huge believer in coconut oil too.) When the time came for my appointment, my hair was washed, but not conditioned. I asked Leslie why he didn’t put conditioner in my hair, and Leslie explained that over conditioning your hair isn’t good because it can make it fall out. He assured me that my hair would still look amazing without using conditioner and after he blew dry it and used a paddle brush to detangle, he was right! My hair was left super shiny. Leslie explained that before the Socap extensions are put in, the hair can’t have any product in it at all! If there are products in the hair, the extension bond will slip off. After washing, the hair is blow dried, and flat ironed pin straight. There are no waves at all in hair so Leslie can part the hair and see exactly what he’s doing.

The hair extensions are then applied by a keratin bond to the hair. Now when Leslie showed me the extensions I couldn’t believe the likeness to my hair. I have jet black hair with tints of brown, and that’s exactly how the extensions looked. The Socap Extensions had some serious shine to them too. I believe all of the Socap extensions comes from India. (You know they love cocout oil over there too). I told Leslie that I had heard extensions ruined the hair, and he told me that Socap Extensions would not ruin my hair at all. The extensions are applied by keratin bond, with a little machine that looks kind of like a flat iron.

Leslie said the best way he can describe the keratin bond is like putting a decal on a tshirt. The decal becomes part of the fiber or shirt, and it won’t come out. Leslie told me there are no restrictions with the hair extensions except you don’t want to put anything with silicones close to the bond of the hair. It took Leslie about two hours to apply, but I wasn't bored. We spent a lot of time discussing hair. He was a wealth of hair knowledge. (You girls know how much I love hair). Anyway when we were done, here’s how my hair looked.

Here’s how it look when it's styled:

I’ve never thought about growing my hair this long, but I’m def going to do it now. Six weeks later, I have had no problems at all with these extensions. The first night, it felt a little weird to sleep with them because I wasn’t used to having anything in my hair (they feel like little knots near the root area) but after that first night, they don’t bother me at all. Now I forget that I have them on. I have gone to get my hair done a few times at my local Dominican salon with these on, and they style my hair like normal with no problems. FYI: My hair’s been pulled a few times (get your mind out of the gutter, lil man likes to pull my hair) and these didn’t budge at all.

All in all, if you want to get extensions and don't know what to do, I highly recommend Socap and Leslie Correa. The extensions are beautiful, you can't tell I have anything in my hair and they really don't feel like anything. Leslie is super great too. The people at his salon (including his cute little pregnant helper Roscio) are super warm and friendly. The price of this ain't cheap though ladies.These will run over $1000.

Get Your Skin Winter Ready!!!

New York City's Weather has been a dream come true, but last week we did get hit with a few cold days, and I noticed a lot of people who hadn't been preparing their skin for the cold air. As the weather get's cold your skin gets dryer, and for many people, it's very noticeable in the form of dry flaky skin, chapped lips, and really dry hard hands. During the winter, I know a lot of peeps who tend to get very flaky skin under their chin area. I used to too, but I found a way to stop it. 1) Exfoliate: I'm a huge believer in exfoliation for the skin especially during the winter time. You can buy a clarisonic (but wait till Cyber Monday as they'll be 20% off) or you can use some exfoliators. Some of my past favorites are:

Glo-Therapuetics Pumpkin Enzyme Scrub. I just finished this, and really like it. At first I didn't like it because I was washing my face off in a hurry and noticed that I could still feel some of the grains, but after I took the time to wash them off, they were gone and I loved the way my skin felt after. It's a great option because it contains jojoba oil, rice extract so it's not too harsh on the skin and it leaves your skin insanely moisturized and glowing. Also the scent of this is pure pumpkin pie. It's delicious. I actually kept the empty tube so I could keep smelling it.

Nuance Salma Hayek Wild Lime Exfoliator is amazing and a great bang for your buck. I reviewed it here.

Or if you are a DIY girl like me, grab some honey, brown sugar, (jojoba or olive oil) and you've got a your home made scrub right there.

Also when you exfoliate make sure you exfoliate your lips as well. Chapped lips aint sexy at all mamas.

2) Moisturize Moisturize Moisturize This is the time to get busy with your moisturizer. Dry scaly skin never looks sexy on anyone. True story but when i was in 9th grade, my boyfriend broke up with me because he said my lips were always chapped. lol. (It wasn't funny back then, but now I can laugh at it.) The more hydrated your skin is, the the better your skin looks and feels and moisture helps keep those pesky lines away. A few moisturizers I've tried lately and love are:

Kate Somerville's Goat Milk Cream- This leaves my skin so smooth and soft, but not greasy. I absolutely love that Goat milk is in this! Goat milk has been used since ancient Egyptian times for skin moisture. It contains caprylic acid which is a natural skin exfoliator. I love the dispenser of this too. It makes sure the product really isn't exposed to air, and that you're not putting bacteria back in the bottle.

Drugstore: Aveeno's Positive Radiant Moisturizer-This is such a good drugstore moisturizer especially if you suffer from hyperpigmenation, like I do because the soy really helps to even out the skin. Plus this contains spf 15 which is always good.

If you're a DO IT Yourself Girl too you can also just grab some jojoba oil and keep your skin hydrated that way as well.

Fish Oils

Last but not least because you girls know I believe skin health comes from within, this is a really good time to start taking some fish oils. No matter how hard I moisturized before, I used to always get dry scaley skin under my chin in the winter. When I started taking my fish oils, all of that stopped. I highly rec my Barleans Mango Peach Fish Oils. I love the taste of the stuff and it's great for me. My skin is no where near as dry as it used to be. If you are ~~psycho~~ concerned with your skin like I am, you can also try the Barleans Omega 369 in Pomegranate blackberry. I drink both of those daily. (Don't judge me, I want to beat the clock!)

Last week I was invited by Dominica supermodel Arlenis Sosa and my buddy Patricia to this amazing Pencils of Promise Charity Event. Pencils of Promise was founded by Adam Braun when he went to India, and he saw poor kids begging on the street. He asked one kid, If you could have anything in the world, what would it be? This poor kid who had absolutely nothing went on to say that he wish he could have "a pencil." Wow, Can you believe that? This kid had nothing, and all he wanted was a pencil. That happpened three years ago and since then Pencils For Promise had created over 30 schools around the world in poor countries. This story touches me so much. Protect Your Neck!

During the summer, when I went to get my hair done, there was an older woman sitting next to me getting her hair cut. She was really upset with the hairstylist, screaming that she had cut her hair too short. Since the woman couldn’t speak Spanish and the hairstylist really couldn’t speak English, I intervened, and tried to calm the situation. I then told the woman that I actually loved her hair that length. It was then she whispered in my ear that she liked her hair down to her shoulders because she was really self conscious about her neck area. This woman didn’t seem that old, but then I took a look at her neck and her decolette area I saw that her neck did look a lot older than her face. It was clear to me that she focused most of her anti-aging on her face, and forgotten about er neck and decolette. That is a huge mistake. An aging neck and decolettte can make you look years older. Your neck area has the thinnest skin on your body and is exposed most of the time to damaging UVA and UVB rays . Your neck skin also has less collagen to plump it up, so the skin can begin to sag. Dr Oz says one of the biggest mistakes women do, is not moisturize their neck. So basically girls, you need to protect that neck! Here are some neck creams that you may want to give a whirl. Nail Call with Revlon Blue Lagoon and Revlon Blue Mosaic!

I'm loving the combo of these two polishes together. This is Revlon Blue Lagoon from the Spring/Summer 2011 collection, and Revlon Blue Mosaic from the Gucci Westman Expressionist collection. The two together remind me so much of childhood memories. I always wanted to be an ice skater and I imagined my costume would be an ice blue, much like the Revlon Blue Lagoon color, with dark blue glitter on the sides and collar much like Blue Mosaic (although Blue Mosaic contains some tiny green and silver glitter too). I'd also have an ice skating partner named Vladimir and we'd win so many championships together....(don't ask me why his name had to be Vladimir). Sadly where I'm from, there were no ice skating lessons available so my mom put me in piano lessons instead (hated them). Anyway, check out these colors together. I've got them on my nails today.
